08.25.10:

WOW what a summer!! Thank you all for the GREAT support on the golf tournament!! It was a Fantastic day and lots of fun. Our first major fund raiser was a great success and will help put this program over the top. Way to many to thank but I do want to thank Ken Sinner for all his time and effort at being our lead coordinator on this event. Thanks Ken Great job!!

November 15th is coming very fast!! We must all work together to make sure we are ready to go. REMINDER to mark off your calendar Nov 19th-21st. This is the 3 days we will need all hands on deck. Our largest fund raiser of the year The Wildcat Shootout. We are expecting 150 AAU teams that we will be hosting. This will put our program at new levels and give our kids so many opportunities. Be prepared to help with that if your son makes C-team, JV, or Varsity.

I am currently working on setting up a conditioning program and open gym for all basketball player that are NOT in other fall sports.

The plan will be to have conditioning from September 13th-November 12th on Mondays, Wednesday’s and Friday’s after school from most likely 2:45 -3:45 or in that time period. As I get that figured out I will let you know.

Also if you are not in a Fall Sport you should be in the weight room everyday!! We MUST get stronger to compete for that State Championship!!

We will also be having open gyms start up soon. Stay tuned for that. It will most likely be 2 days a week. Not sure on the days as of yet. I will let you know ASAP.

The BCC Varsity fall league starts Sep 21st. I have already e-mailed an invitation to the players that I want playing or on the reserve list. If you feel I have missed your son and he should be on the varsity fall team, please feel free to call me with any questions.

Remember basketball players are made between March and November!!

LAST but not LEAST and MOST important. GRADES. Parents I will be checking grades at the end of September. Please make sure the Boy’s are staying on top of their grades. We want everybody eligible and we want to earn the team state academic award. That is very important to me. Please do weekly checks on your boy’s so things do not get out of hand. I will send a form out later in September for the boys to get filled out and returned to me.

Please read the new "Team Philosophy" posted here in the websites. (click here)

Thanks and have a great school year - Coach Helm

07.26.2010

Just a reminder that this week we have practice on Tuesday and Wednesday 3:30-5:30

We also have the Varsity BBQ Helm Games at my house Tuesday after practice. This is for all kids who played with the Varsity this spring or Summer. NOTE*** I have cleared with Charlie Kinnune that it is ok and he fully supports the kids being able to miss speed camp for that day. He feels the team bonding for the basketball team will be a great thing and should not be missed. So please do not worry about how coach Kinnune feels. We have his blessing for this event J

ALL Players please bring your spring and summer league jerseys that you used for the spring and summer leagues. I need those turned in Tuesday or Wednesday. We are missing lots of these.

I also still need report cards turned in if you have not already showed me please bring them to practice on Tuesday.

We will take August off. Start up again in September with open gyms, conditioning and BCC league play for Varsity. Everybody should be weight lifting on there own up at the school.

The only August function that we have is the Golf tournament Aug 13th. Thank you so much to all of those who have entered or helped with sponsors and or foursomes. We only need 2 more foursomes to get the tournament filled. If you have foursome and have not yet let Ken Sinner know please do so ASAP. If you have a prize or sponsor hole please also let Ken know ASAP.

REMINDER** That we will have a Golf tournament meeting August 3rd 7:00pm at the High school for all the parents. If you can help that day please come. This will be our last main meeting on the golf tournament. If you have prizes please bring them to the meeting. The tournament is coming up quick Aug 13th.

We also have a booster club meeting August 10th 7:00pm. If your son is going to play for the basketball program than I would like at least one parent from each family at the booster meetings. We are all the booster club so lets have 100% attendance.

Thanks
Coach Helm

Hi Wildcats,

I just wanted to forward some exciting news and just a couple of reminders.

1st - I and or Ken Sinner have received NO confirmations from any of you regarding the golf tournament and the foursome that each family is to try and put together. We are in need of about 12 more foursomes. PLEASE reply to this e-mail on if you can and intend to pull together a foursome for our golf tournament. I would like a YES or a NO. If you can NOT put a foursome together please let me know if you can put together gifts or prizes and or sponsors for the tournament. I need EVERYBODY to be involved in one way or another. This is our 2nd largest fundraiser and we need to make sure we run this in a professional way and make sure it is a success for the future of the boy’s program.

2nd - I need ALL boy’s copies of report cards. I have only received about 10 so far. Smith boy’s, Alec Deichman, Ian Ilgenfritz, Luke and Joe Williams, Piper boy’s, Kaleb Sinclair, and Beau Shain. If your son is not on this list I need a copy of his report card ASAP. Please just e-mail it to me. Grades are very important to me and I want to make sure that we are all eligible to play and educated for the future!! If we get it done in the classroom we will get it done on the basketball floor.

3rd - I have attached our Varsity Schedule to this e-mail. I am VERY excited to announce that the varsity has been invited to play in the Boston Classic Dec 27-29th. We are planning on flying out the afternoon of the 25th and flying back either the 30th or 31st. I am looking into this now and more news later as things get firmed up. I just wanted you to know so that if your family will be apart of the varsity team you can begin to make plans on the calendar. This is difficult because teams will not be decided until November but I will be blocking off tickets and just wanted people to know what varsity plans are. This is a major part of our fundraising needs and something special for all kids to look forward to. We like to take the team on a Christmas trip every year since it can be a fantastic educational experience not to mention basketball experience.

One last note of exciting news!! We were able to confirm that our booster club will be in charge of running the Wildcat Shootout. This will become our largest fund raiser. It is the fund raiser that will put our program over the top!! If your son makes the basketball team in November PLEASE PLAN on and mark on your calendar now if you want to anticipate him being on the team. November 19th, 20th and 21st. This will be a MANDATORY fundraiser for all parents and players that weekend. We will be hosting up to 150 AAU teams and will need all hands on deck all three days.

Go Wildcats - Thank you - Coach Helm
